The food-grade grease for Damascus carbon steel blades has excellent adhesion but is inert, tasteless, odourless, non-staining, non-yellowing, non-rancid, compatible with drinking water, soap-free, has no melting point and, above all, is totally non-toxic.

It's hard to say how useful it will be. I do have a damask blade, but I use it every day. I don't have instructions on how to use it, or how to prepare the blade before applying it. I'm going to try different methods. (Translated review)
